Cut & Sew
From an idea or reference to something you can hold.
Our in-house cut and sew capabilities allow us to develop custom garments, accessories and textile products from the ground up. With pattern making, sampling and sewing handled from our Sydney studio, we can work through the development process with you before moving into production.
Projects can range from a single custom piece or prototype through to larger production runs. If you have something specific in mind, bring us the idea, reference or technical information and we'll help work out how to make it.

From concept to finished product
Every custom product starts somewhere different. You might already have a technical drawing and specifications, an existing product you want to develop further, or simply a strong reference for what you're trying to achieve.
Depending on the project, we can assist with:

Product Development
Working through the construction, materials and details required to turn an idea into a manufacturable product.
Pattern Making
Creating the patterns required to construct the product accurately and consistently.

Fabric & Material Sourcing
Helping identify suitable fabrics, trims, hardware and other components based on the requirements of the product.
Sampling & Prototyping
Producing physical samples so construction, fit, materials and details can be tested before committing to production.
Small-Run Production
Producing suitable projects locally using our in-house equipment and sewing capabilities.
Larger Production Runs
Once a product and sample have been approved, we can work with our local or offshore manufacturing partners to facilitate larger-volume production.
What can we make?

Apparel · Jackets · Uniforms · Bags & Accessories · Cushions · Soft Goods · Specialised Products · One-Off Pieces · Prototypes · + more
Cut and sew isn't limited to traditional apparel. We've developed everything from custom garments and accessories through to interior and highly specialised textile products. If you can think it, we'll work out whether we can make it.

Sampling is part of the process
Custom product development rarely goes directly from an idea into bulk production. Sampling allows us to test the pattern, construction, fit, materials and finishing details before committing to larger quantities.
It's common for a product to require more than one sample before it's ready for production. Each stage involves additional development and production time, which means one-off samples carry a significantly higher unit cost than products manufactured at scale.
Pattern → First Sample → Review → Refinement → Approved Sample → Production

Made in our studio. Scaled when needed.
Pattern making, sampling and suitable production runs can be handled in-house at our Sydney studio. When a project reaches quantities better suited to larger-scale manufacturing, the approved sample and specifications can then form the basis for production through our offshore manufacturing network.
Cut & Sew FAQs
Do I need a finished pattern or technical pack?
No, but the more information you can provide, the easier it is for us to understand and accurately scope the project. References, dimensions, existing products, sketches, technical drawings and material preferences can all help. If further product development is required, we can assist as a paid service.
Can you make a one-off sample?
Yes. We can produce one-off prototypes and samples depending on the project. Sampling is more labour-intensive than bulk manufacturing, so individual samples generally have a significantly higher unit cost.
Will the first sample be the finished product?
Not necessarily. Sampling is a development process and it's common to make adjustments to fit, construction, materials or details after reviewing the first prototype. Additional samples and revisions are quoted as required.
Do you have a minimum order?
There isn't a universal minimum for our cut and sew service. Quantities depend on the product and production method. Smaller runs generally carry a higher unit cost, while larger quantities can open up more efficient manufacturing options.
Is your cut and sew done locally?
Pattern making, sampling and suitable production runs can be completed in-house at our Marrickville studio. For larger quantities, we can also facilitate production through our offshore manufacturing partners.
Can you source fabrics and materials?
Yes. We can assist with sourcing fabrics, trims and components based on the requirements of the project. Availability and minimum quantities and lead time vary depending on the material.
Can you manufacture larger quantities?
Yes. Once the product has been developed and an approved sample established, we can facilitate larger production runs through our manufacturing network.
How much does custom cut and sew cost?
Every project is different. Costs depend on development time, pattern making, materials, construction complexity, sampling and final quantities. We'll scope the requirements before beginning so you understand the expected development and production costs.
