Embroidery

Commercial embroidery for apparel, uniforms, headwear and more.

Embroidery creates a durable, premium finish by stitching artwork directly into the product. From simple chest logos and branded uniforms to detailed artwork, headwear and custom patches, our commercial embroidery capabilities allow us to produce a wide range of applications from our Marrickville studio.

Every design is considered individually. We look at the artwork, garment, placement and quantity before recommending the best approach to ensure the finished embroidery looks as good on the product as it does on screen.

From artwork to thread

Before artwork can be embroidered, it needs to be digitised specifically for embroidery. This isn't simply converting an image into a different file format, the artwork is translated into instructions that determine how the embroidery machine builds the design through thread.

Elements such as stitch direction, stitch type, density, sequencing and thread changes all influence the finished result.

Direct embroidery

Artwork is stitched directly into the garment or product for a clean, permanent finish. It's particularly suited to uniforms, polos, jackets, hoodies, hats, beanies, bags, towels and other heavier apparel.

Embroidered Patches

For a different finish, artwork can be produced as a separate embroidered patch before being applied to the product. We can source different shapes, edges, backings and application methods depending on the project.

For larger quantities and more specialised requirements, we can also source custom embroidered and heat-applied patches through our manufacturing network.

Embroidery FAQs

Is there a minimum order for embroidery?

Our standard minimum for embroidery production is 25 units. Samples and smaller quantities can be produced where required, although the higher setup costs generally result in a higher price per unit.

How is embroidery priced?

Embroidery is primarily priced according to stitch count, artwork complexity and quantity, rather than simply the physical dimensions of the design. A small, highly detailed logo can contain more stitches than a much larger, simpler design and therefore take longer to produce.

What is an embroidery setup or digitising fee?

Before production, artwork needs to be converted into an embroidery-ready file that tells the machine how to construct the design. Our setup fee covers this digitising process as well as preparing the job for production. Existing digitised artwork still requires production setup, although the setup cost is generally lower.

Do I need to supply an embroidery-ready file?

No. You can provide us with your original artwork and we'll arrange the digitising required for production. A clean vector artwork file is preferred where available.

Can any logo or artwork be embroidered?

Most artwork can be adapted for embroidery, but extremely fine details, small text, gradients and photographic elements don't always translate directly into thread. Where necessary, we can recommend adjustments or simplifications that will produce a better embroidered result.

How large can embroidery be?

There's no single maximum size that applies to every job. Most apparel embroidery remains below approximately A4, but the appropriate size depends on the garment, placement and artwork. Because embroidery is priced primarily by stitch count, a larger design isn't necessarily more expensive than a smaller, highly detailed one.

Can you embroider anywhere on a garment?

We can accommodate a wide range of placements, but some areas require additional production steps. Certain sleeves, seams, hoods and constructed areas may need to be opened and resewn, or embroidered before the garment is assembled. We'll advise on the best approach based on the product and placement.

Can you produce custom embroidered patches?

Yes. We can produce embroidered patches in different shapes, sizes, edge finishes and backing options. The best construction and application method will depend on the artwork, product and quantity.

Do you handle large embroidery orders?

Yes. We produce embroidery in-house using commercial multi-head equipment and also work with trusted local production partners when additional capacity is required for larger-volume orders.
